School closing and Weather Delays

School Closings:

LEADS Head Start will not be calling radio or television stations to report weather closings, delays or early releases.  Parents and staff will need to listen to the radio or TV stations for public school closings in their center’s area of service.

Classes will be canceled if the center is located in a school district that closes because of severe weather conditions.  If a closing by a school district where the center is located occurs while the children are in class or cluster the Center Administrator will arrange for the children to be returned home as soon as it becomes safe to do so.

If the school district where the center is located remains open, but the children who attend the center live in a school district, which closes, the parent may transport their child to and from school.

*Full-Day/Full-Year classroom will always be open. We will only close if a level 3 snow emergency is declared.

Tornado Warnings:
No student shall be transported by a Head Start Vehicle when the center is located in an area where a tornado warning is issued.  Transportation can resume when the tornado warning for the area has expired.

Morning Weather Delays:

Due to the fact that we provide no transportation, we will no longer observe any delays due to weather.  All classes will begin at regularly scheduled times even if the school district has a delay due to weather.

Early Releases:

When a school district experiences an early release due to weather, then the center will arrange for the all children at the center to go home as soon as safely possible.
